INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

Send original and two copies of the manuscript to:

Jafar Vossoughi
Editor-In-Chief
International Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science
Biomed Research Foundation
3616 Martins Dairy Circle
Olney, MD 20832
Telephone/Fax: (301) 570-9771;  E-mails: vossoughi@verizon.net;  vossoughi@earthlink.net

PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPTS:
Typewritten manuscripts must be double-spaced (8.5" x 11"; 22 cm x 28 cm) with one inch margins all around. The cover page must include the title of the manuscript, full names of the authors with the appropriate degrees, full address, telephone, fax and e-mail of each author. The corresponding author must be identified. A maximum of 10 of the most appropriate keywords must appear on the cover page.

A separate abstract page should accompany each manuscript containing approximately 200 words of factual information. The abstract should briefly include the problem studied, the method used, the results obtained and the conclusions.

It is suggested that the rest of manuscript start with the introduction and then materials and methods, results, conclusions, discussions, acknowledgments and references.

Although, there is no imposed limit, a typical original manuscript should be approximately 40 double spaced pages (including references and tables) with a reasonable number of illustrations and photographs.

REFERENCES:
References must be typed on separate pages, numbered and listed alphabetically. References should be given in the text using numbers in square brackets or alternatively with name(s) and number(s). References should be typed in a uniform style according to the format given in the following:

JOURNAL ARTICLES:

BOOKS:
McDonald, DA. Blood Flow in Arteries, 2nd Ed, The Williams & Wilkins Co, Baltimore, 1994

BOOK CHAPTERS:
Roelandt, J. Echocardiographic Evaluation of Vascular Prostheses. In: Diethrich, EB (Editor). Noninvasive Cardiovascular Diagnosis, Current Concepts, University Park Press, Baltimore, 1978, 431-441

CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS:

ILLUSTRATIONS:
All illustrations (diagrams, graphs, etc) should be in black and white or color (the cost of color production is charged to the corresponding author) with heavy lines and legends so that they remain legible after considerable reduction. All illustrations and black and white photographs should be camera ready.

LEGENDS:
Photographs and illustrations should have appropriate legends and must be typed on separate pages. They should be pertinent, brief, but complete. Photomicrographs should have scales and their stain and magnifications should be identified in the legends. Neither the manuscript nor the photographs will be returned to the authors.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COPYRIGHTED MATERIALS:
Photographs and illustrations taken from other publications should be fully credited within the legends. Permission letters from the appropriate publisher(s) should accompany the manuscript. It is the author’s responsibility to secure permission for use of copyrighted materials.

GALLEY PROOFS:
Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author directly from the typesetter. Authors should check the proofs very carefully and return the proofs to the publishers promptly. Reprints should be ordered at this time.
